"Expressions" - an exhibit of Carol Coogan's creative works both old and new, will be on exhibition in the Fellowship Hall of the Zion Lutheran Church, located at 153 Knott Terrace, in Schenectady, NY. Carol is an artist, illustrator, designer, writer and amateur naturalist. She writes and illustrates the “Backyard Naturalist,” a weekly newspaper column for the Times Union. Working with pen & ink, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, collage, assemblage and digital media, Carol's artistic styles are varied, ranging from realistic to conceptual to decorative to experimental to abstract. of her The public opening will take place on Saturday, March 6, from 6 to 8 pm. A Sunday reception with also take place on March 7, from 9:30 to 11 am. Selections on display will include book and nature illustrations, engraving prints of Crane & Co. greeting cards she designed and illustrated, paintings, mixed media, and assemblage pieces. Carol is the widow of Paul Strausman, a locally well-known award winning children’s recording artist, arts-in-education specialist and music teacher, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in December 2008. Having lost her sister, a close friend, her father, mother and husband - all within a span of 4 years - Carol's recent and more personal art explores and expresses the themes of death and rebirth, remembrance, hope and strength through transition, and spiritual transformation.
The Jonesville Store - From March 15 until the end of April Marilyn Rock and Carole Fults will be exhibiting some of their work at the Jonesville Store , 989 Main Street in Clifton Park, NY. Carole will be showing some pieces from her Moon Project and Marilyn will be showing ... well some surprises.
Weekend Retreat for Women - in Newcomb, NY at Aunt Polly's B & B from March 19 - 21, 2010. Workshops led by Kathie Greenwold on quilt design.
