Enid Watsky

Enid was born and raised in Westchester County, New York. An early influence toward her interest in art was from her architect/artist grandfather. While in High School as an Art major, photography became an interest. She studied at the School of Modern Photography in New York City before heading of to the University of Colorado in Boulder. After a brief stay at U of C, a major life change occurred with marriage and the start of a family of five children. The family moved to Poughkeepsie NY and, In 1967 when the youngest started school she decided it was time to do something more than be wife and mom. An “Introduction to Art” enabled her to dabble in many different media before getting more involved with those she found most suitable--watercolors, monotypes, and pastels .

That began a long relationship with Dutchess County Art Association and Barrett Art Center as student and Board member. She exhibited frequently in member shows at the BAC and also had several solo shows in the Dutchess County area. She also exhibited with Opus 6, a group of Dutchess Co artists who met weekly to discuss, critique and encourage each other.

After developing skills in representational painting, Enid’s aesthetic spirit veered off on a path to abstract images. Monoprinting was the media that allowed the most spontaneous and fulfilling results although it’s unpredictability was both frustrating and exciting. Pastels have become the media of choice and she continues to do both representational and abstract images

Since moving to Albany in 2008, Enid has become an active member of the Colonie Art League and associated with Art ‘Round Town. She has had a solo show at Beverwyck, been part of the Art Gone Wild show at the Five Rivers Conservation and Education Center and has been a frequent exhibitor at the Broadway Art Center
